Passive income is the best type of income you can make.
Once you start earning you are guaranteed to continue to earn money time and time again as time goes on and in a lot of cases with minimal effort to maintain.
Getting to the point where you are earning a considerable amount of money from passive income is a completely different story.
It’s hard, and it takes hard work and patience but it’s not impossible…
In this blog post I am going to go over the Top 5 Ways To Make Passive Income From YouTube.
1.YouTube Ad Revenue
This is probably the most basic way to start making money from your YouTube Channel and it is the sole definition of passive income.
The problem however is that YouTube ad revenue isn’t going to make you a full-time income, at least not anytime soon. The vast majority of people on YouTube don’t make a ton of money from ad revenue but at the same time it does add up on a monthly basis.
My Channel with around 3,000 subscribers (at the time of writing) brings in around $100 a month from ad revenue and most of that is comming from a handful of videos that are bringing in a lot of the traffic.
This isn’t crazy money but it is money I’m guaranteed to get and it slowly has been growing over the past few months.
If you want to start earning ad revenue from YouTube then consider monetizing all of your videos to get the best result possible.
2. Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate marketing is a very popular way of making money online in general and there’s no reason why you can’t make money on YouTube with affiliate marketing as well.
One of the most common ways to start earning is to do a review of a product you are already using that is in your niche and then put an affiliate link in the description of your video. You can even double your efforts by also publishing your review video on your blog as well.
For smaller channels you need a lot of traffic in order to earn big with affiliate marketing but overtime as you create more content and do more review type videos your income will increase.
I did a review of the Team Treehouse Techdegree earlier this year and that video makes me around $50 a month in affiliate marketing. Some videos will do better than others so it can take some time to get a winner.
A great affiliate program to start off with is Amazon Associates, especially since all you have to do is refer people to Amazon and any product they buy within 24 hours will net you a commission.
I recommend you start reviewing and doing videos about products on Amazon to get start with earning affiliate income from your YouTube Channel.
3. Selling Your Own Products
Selling your own products is similar to affiliate marketing except that it involves a heck of a lot more work. The benefit however is that you will have a regular source of income and make more per sale.
I do this by referring people to my courses on Teachable and Udemy.
Most of my sales do not come from YouTube directly but instead people finding my channel, going to my blog, going through my email list, and then eventually buying.
The cool thing about YouTube is that you can still get sales from new people watching your videos. I get a handful of sales from my Udemy and my Teachable courses every month from people finding my videos online.
If you would like to get started with selling your own products I suggest you start with Online Courses.

4. Building a Blog
If you are on YouTube then you are going to want to build a blog as soon as possible.
You can earn income from affiliate marketing, advertising and other opportunities from owning a blog, plus use it to get even more traffic to your online content.
A blog is literally another content platform that you can build out and get SEO traffic and help funnel content to your YouTube Channel.
Building a blog is definitely a large task and like a YouTube Channel it can take a long time before you start to see some results coming in.
At the very least I recommend that you set-up a blog and at least post your YouTube videos so that you can get more traffic pointing towards your channel.
As time goes on you can expand and work more on your blog when you feel that you need to.
5. Building an Email List
If there is something on here I’d recommend you do right away above anything else that would be to start building out an email list.
Email marketing is very important and for me has been one of the best things I’ve ever done for my online business. With an email list you can market, sell, and hold onto an audience that will always be there for you.
To start you will want to link to landing pages from your Videos and YouTube Channel and start to expand your opt-ins on your blog as well.
Once you get an auto-responder series going you can also start earning when you sleep (literally). I regular add my YouTube videos to my autoresponder series as well as all my blog posts which means that when someone signs up to my email list, it does all the hard work for me.
This does take a lot of time to set-up but if you do one email per day it will start to really add up after a couple of months, especially when you start to get more people onto your list.
I personally use LeadPages integrated with Aweber to do all my email marketing.
